Our Story
Hello, I'm Hailey— the owner and illustrator behind Polkadoxi. The dream for Polkadoxi started in 2010 when I brought home Mr. Darcy—my first miniature doxi puppy. Darcy's undeniable cuteness, adventurous spirit and mischievous personality inspired me to start sketching little doodles of everyday life with my best friend. Over the next few years Darcy grew and got extremely fluffy while I added two more long-haired miniature dachshunds to my family— Lizzie and Bingley! Endless doxi kisses and fun family moments inspired me to keep doodling—on sketchbooks, the corners of napkins and random scraps of paper. Not knowing what to do with my ideas and lacking confidence in my artistic skill, the doodles stayed hidden, collected together in folders and sketchbooks and packed away in boxes. In 2022, a new iPad changed my life when I found my love for digital illustration and began building up my confidence and skill. Like always, my fluffy bffs were what I most enjoyed sketching and soon ideas that had been hidden away for a decade came to life on the digital page. I am always experimenting with my illustration style and occasionally like to try some traditional medium in addition to digital illustration. I hope my artwork brings a smile to your face and reminds you how it feels to live life alongside the universe's most darling creatures—doxis!
What is a Polkadoxi?
Polkadoxi is the amalgamation of the word polkadot and the word doxi, short for dachshund. It's inspired by Hailey's miniature dachshund Lizzie, who curls into the classic dachshund donut shape to sleep—a perfect, tiny 'dot'.
